The JED Foundation Volunteer:

MISSION: We want to stop the shame, prejudice and secrecy associated with mental health so that more people, especially teens and young adults, will seek help more often and feel comfortable doing so. We want to educate people about the signs that someone may be in distress and provide guidance on how to help. We want people to know that although people experience dark times, there is hope and help waiting to be given. We want people to know how to find that help.

  • Volunteers have a wide range of opportunities to choose from (no certain skills required) including outreach, advocacy, fundraising, presentations, event planning, blogging, etc.
  • Volunteer Application

The Trevor Project Crisis Counselor:

  • Must submit application, background check, and take 40 hour training
  • Online position, high speed internet & Chrome needed

The Greenbelt Animal Shelter :

Volunteer Skills: social media outreach, events planning, fundraising, organizing, dog walking, cat socializing, fostering and the list goes on and on. Our animals benefit from every positive human interaction they have. We are not about setting limits on how you may contribute to our program. If you would like to sit in our cat room and pet a cat after a rough day at work, you aren’t only making yourself feel better but you are interacting with an animal that may have otherwise been missing attention.

  • Volunteer hours are Monday-Friday from 4-7pm.
  • If you want to apply to volunteer at the Animal Shelter, use this form.  It can be filled out online, but must be saved, printed out, signed and brought in to the shelter at 550-A Crescent Road (Behind the Police Station) You can bring your volunteer forms in during volunteer hours which are M-F from 4pm-7pm and on Saturdays from 9am-12pm.   Volunteer Application
